ROSON 25 kN seabed penetrometer, battery-operated

The seabed CPT system is deployed using a single steel wire. The batteries contain enough energy for ten CPT's of up to 5 metres. Contact from the surface with the seabed unit is by means of acoustic data modem, alternatively a bypass cable can be used. Basically the seabed unit can perform CPT tests on its own: the operator sets the test parameters, sends them to the seabed unit, places the unit onto the seabed and the test will be performed automatically. The onboard data memory stores the data when the seabed unit makes contact with the surface unit again. If acoustic conditions permit the test can be followed online.

ROSON 25 kN single wire system

This easy-to-operate seabed CPT system is specially designed for cable and pipeline route survey. The seabed unit typically penetrates 3 or 5 metres into the seabed and has a seabed load of 5.7 kPa.

The seabed unit is deployed from a special umbilical cable. A special winch stores 2100 metres of umbilical cable and is used for auxiliary functions required by the seabed unit. The surface control unit completes the system.

The system comes with:

- Touch screen data acquisition with GORILLA! Software.
- Base inclinometers X and Y.
- Total load measurement.
- Distance to surface gauge.
- Seabed detection switch.

ROSON 100 kN seabed CPT system

The ROSON 100 kN works in water depths of up to 500 metres. Here pictured while being deployed from the Ocean Voyager. The easy-to-run ROSON system is lifted with a vessel's lifting wire while a 5-core umbilical takes care of the electrical power and signal transport. The winch will automatically follow the ROSON's upward or downward movement, as well as the swell when the ROSON is on the seabed. Penetration depths of 15 metres into the seabed have been reached using this ROSON system. The system is supplied complete with base frame inclinometers and total load measurement.
